While preparing for a meeting I recently revisited this interesting piece of research from the Pew Internet & American Life Project.
A Key finding: 29% of cell owners describe their cell phone as "something they can't imagine living without."
In a related study Cell Internet Use, 17% of cell phone owners do most of their online browsing on their phone, rather than a computer or other device. Most do so for convenience, but for some their phone is their only option for online access.

Websites are facing the next revolution in their evolution: Mobile. We have come to terms with the fact that businesses have to have a website to represent their image and interests. However, with 50% of our country walking around with a smartphone in their pocket or purse, it is necessary to be able to deliver that website to a portable device. The device could be a tablet or a phone but the reality is, these varying screen sizes require a flexible approach to your website design. This is where responsive design comes on stage. At Swift Media, we like to call it Fat Thumb Design.

I have been blessed to work with more than my fair share of excellent companies.

Some state their excellence with clarity in their values; others use it as a mantra for their daily efforts. However, the truth of it is, none are excellent by merely stating it.

Excellence begins with a state of mind but proves itself in constant effort.

Success is a word filled with so many qualities. How to define success drives to the core of all you do and is defined differently for each of us. My own success is very personal to me and, I assume, to you.

I like to think of success on different levels and at different places. Should we value successfully finishing a 5 mile run less than landing a big job or a terrific presentation? How about the birth of a child, or a wedding, your new car, house, 2nd house, retirement, a skateboard, an “A” paper, 2200 on the SAT?

In the days when "Hang out your shingle" came into common usage, the phrase applied to a business putting a sign , or a 'shingle', outside the business to advertise the availability of a product or service. Today, that shingle hanging outside your door is your website. A solid, interesting, useful presentation of your business isn't a 'nice to have' it is a 'must have'.
